The biggest problem I face daily is the fear of my sidekick (mobile phone) becomes lost,
or worst.... stolen. This applies to just about anyone that owns a cellar device. I've come
across forms and tutorials that suggest "try this app" or "sync it with this" stuff, but nothing
that I felt will ease my mind let alone simplified. Yes there are many options you can explore
but the set up process is rather shitty. Not everyone is capable of teaching what one learns.
Just being honest. When I learn something, it's for my knowledge and not to teach.
But I felt it's time I change that. If I can pass the knowledge of whatever I learn to ease
your mind, then kudos to me! Lol.
My phone is heavily wired into tasker, there are many profiles that have come in handy
in conserving battery-life and reducing mobile data. As great as that is, I fear all that time
I put into customizing my device will have been wasted if I do not have some sort of
security measure. Now you can try lookout but I hear it's pricey and if you're a broke ass
MF like myself in seeking a possible cheap or free solution, guess what? It's doable!
In my case, free. So as a preemptive move I was able to combine several tutorials
and make what I felt was the best solution in recovering your lost buddy.
Enter, tasker!
This will require time and patience, it's a lot to absorb.
I'll do my best in providing a step by step thorough guide without taking shortcuts.
And FYI, yes this is how set up mine.
DISCLAIMER :
This was done on the LG G3 (Sprint LS990 ZV4) and it is rooted.
Your phone will have different options but it's the same idea.
I am not responsible if you brick your device.
With that said, lets begin!

part 1/3
Step 1: Create a profile. Context option is Location. Choose a name, i.e- 'GPS FIND'. Step 3: Click "New Location" and name it what you want. I labeled mine 'HOME". Step 5: Go to your settings > location > activate your GPS, make sure it's on. It may ask for permission, allow it. Step 7: Go back to tasker and click the locate button. Wait a few seconds and click it again, this should pinpoint your location. Where it says radius switch the default from 200m to 30m. Step 9: Our category selection will be 'task'. Step 11: Leave blank / as is and save. Step 13: Step up of location is now complete. Part 1 is now done. Continue to part 2. | Step 2: To create a new 'profile' click the "+" button. Select 'Location'. Step 4: For now leave as is. Press your navigation bar's home button, nothing will erase, we must activate GPS location. Tasker's back at the top left corner acts as a save button. Step 6: If there's an option for high accuracy, yes it'll chew up battery life, still, allow it. You want the best possible outcome. This is about your lil buddy here! Step 8: Click the tasker back /save button. Next it will ask what to name the current location. For this TUT, I named it GPS LOC. LOC short for location. Press the check after. Step 10: The action will be 'stop'. Step 12: Task 'STOP' is now done. Save task. |
